2 Month recap

I'm going to attempt to backtrack the last 10 weeks of excitement. Mad Mommy hasn't been keeping track of all the minor milestones of le little man's life so far.  Fear not! I will begin doing so now.

Coming home:  The first week of le little man's (LLM) life, Grandpa and Grandma Hartsfield came to visit.  It was great having them there, especially the MIL because I seriously spent that entire week in a daze.  I had some mad baby blues and was struggling with the breastfeeding.  LLM is such a smart baby he knew he wasn't getting much milk from me yet so he fought against it at first.  He wanted quantity, the little piggy.  Tita Gloria came to visit and brought me an excessive amount of food and her special ginger soup that helped her milk production and gave me tips on breast feeding.  I'm very grateful that she came because after that it was getting easier.  And it was encouraging to know if I didn't give up yet, it would happen.  I didn't end up drinking any of the ginger soup but my milk started coming in just fine. Success!

LLM also was a bit jaundice, which I suppose is very normal...especially considering  he was 2 weeks early.  So the poor baby had to be attached to a Bili Blanket for several days.  But luckily we were able to do this treatment at home and never had to go into the hospital.

It was a rough beginning and I got so very little sleep, but I had a lot of help.  Husband stepped up and became Daddy. Though, he had to go back to work after a week.  And for the next 4 weeks, my days were pretty much the same.

Day 6.  Sleep Deprived but loving this face
1 MONTH:

At birth LLM was already so strong, trying to lift his head.  By 1 month, he was holding his head up for a minute or two. I think. If I remember correctly.  It's been quite a blur.

Weighed in at 9 lbs 9 oz and 21.5" long!

4 weeks old. LLM has Blue Steel down

2 Months: (ish)

By 6 weeks LLM was just starting to learn how to smile...

6 weeks.  He's got the smolder... <3 melt...

I returned to work Valentine's week. I'd heard the transition back into work mode was a difficult one, however I found it rather easy and actually was rather relieved to be going back to work after 6 weeks off.  I was going a bit stir crazy at home.  This week le little man was on his best behavior and would sleep 5-6 hrs through the night.  This was a tremendous accomplishment as he'd previously would only sleep about 2-3 hours at a time.

happy valentines day!
LLM chose this time to start learning how to talk, and he had started being able to track things but was getting much much better.  By 8 weeks, he was smiling and cooing and talking to the animals in his crib.  He is starting to sleep 6-7 (sometimes 8) hours at night! I'm always concerned he'll wake up in the middle of the night raging with hunger, but he does ok until I have to get up in the morning.

My afternoon nanny, Jill, manages to tell me that I'm the best first time mom she's ever met. Why? Well...LLM does wake up in the middle of the night but if he's not wailing, I let him soothe himself, which he does rather well now.  I've given LLM warm milk, cold milk, formula, breast milk, and fed him out of different bottles.  And he doesn't care where his food comes from! I'm not crazy anal about making sure everything is super sanitized, yeah if his pacifier falls on the floor, I'll wash it before giving it back to him but I don't sanitize his bottles.  Think about it. He probably gets more germs from me and all the other people touching him than drinking out of bottles cleaned with hot, soapy water.  I don't freak out when he sneezes or coughs.  In fact, my mother is more anal about things than I am.  I'm flying by the seat of my pants and going by my gut.  It seems to be working well so far.  :-)

So at 2 months, we're smiling, cooing, tracking, and holding our head up with the best of them.

Weigh in:  11lbs 8.5oz!!! 23" long  Growth spurt?
